NCC  GROUP  HQ

         This Unit  formed part of  8 Andhra  Bn NCC  which  was raised at  Guntur  on 20 Feb  1956. Later in July 1956, it was designated as Nellore Indep NCC Coy.  As the cadet strength of  the  Unit  had  been  sufficiently  increased,  Nellore Indep  NCC  Coy  was re-designated  as  7 Andhra Bn NCC, Nellore wef. 04 Nov 1957 and was brought under the administrative control of HQ 12 Circle NCC Hyderabad.  V.R. College Nellore, JB College Kavali and CSR Sarma College, Ongole were covered by this Unit.

 2.         The  Unit  was re -organized  into  a  4  Coy  Battalion  wef.  Jul 1962  with the following companies :-

1 Coy               ------   V R College, Nellore.

1 Coy               ------   Govt. Arts & Science College, Vidyanagar .

1 Coy               ------   Govt. Arts & Science College, Gudur.

1 Coy               ------   Jawahar Bharati College, Kavali.

      As  a  result of  the re -organization in 1964  the Unit  had 11 Senior Division Coys and 4 Junior Division  Girls Troops  with a total cadet strength of 2400.

 3.         Consequently on  raising of 33 Andhra Bn NCC at Kavali in 1967,  the under mentioned Coys and Troops were transferred to 33 Andhra Bn NCC, Kavali.

1 Coy               ------   Govt. Arts & Science College, Kandukur.

1 Coy               ------   Govt. ITI, Nellore.

1 Troop            ------   ZP High School, Kavali.

1 Troop            ------   RK Higher Secondary School, Allur.

 4.         The  under  mentioned  Girl Troops  were  also  transferred  to 8  Andhra Girls Battalion NCC, Tirupati in the same year.

           9  Andhra Girls Junior Division Troop ---- Venkatagiri.

            27 Andhra  Girls Junior Division Troop ---- Kavali.

 5.         In the year 1970-71, this unit  was reorganized as a 5 Coys Battalion with addl 6 Junior Division Boys Troops. And the five Senior Division Coys were allocated to seven colleges and redesignated as 25 (A) Bn NCC.

 6.         This Unit was under NCC Group Headquarters Tirupati, but later it was affiliated to NCC Gp HQ  Guntur wef. 01 April 1976, consequent to the introduction of zonal system in Andhra Pradesh. With the increase in total str of NCC Cdts in AP a further re-adjustment of Units was carried out and 24 (A) Bn NCC was again put under NCC Gp Hq Tirupati from w.e.f. 01 Apr 2003, and the str of each SD Coy was raised to 200 thereby making a  total str of 1000 Cdts including 100 girls, and JD Tps to 16 ½  with a Str of 1650 including 200 girls.

 7.         This unit was again was reorbatted under NCC Group, Guntur w.e.f 01 Oct 2010. The present auth cadet strength has been re-allotted from trg year 2011-12 as follows

            SD/SW  - 600 and JD/JW – 1300/200

8.         This Unit was renumbered as 24 (A) Bn NCC wef 01 June 1978 and the following are the  details of Coys/Tps presently affiliated to the Bn.
